Here are the Big East players of the week, as announced by the league office.
Offense: George Winn, RB, Cincinnati. Winn rushed for 165 yards and three touchdowns and added a 37-yard touchdown pass to key Cincinnati’s 35-24 win against Syracuse. Three of Winn’s four scoring plays gave Cincinnati the lead, while his 2-yard touchdown run early in the fourth quarter accounted for the final margin of victory. Winn, who finished with 202 yards of total offense, enters this week’s game against Temple as the Big East's rushing leader, averaging 112.1 yards per game.
Defense: Keith Brown, LB, Louisville. Brown had eight tackles with one tackle for loss, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery in the Cardinals’ 45-17 win against Temple, keeping the Cardinals unbeaten at 9-0. Brown led a Louisville defense that allowed just one offensive touchdown and kept Temple off the scoreboard in the second half. And by the way, he is a true freshman.
