Rutgers' second year in the Big Ten will have a slightly more forgiving beginning than that of the Scarlet Knights' inaugural season in the conference.
The Big Ten announced the 2015 conference schedule Monday morning, with Rutgers again opening Big Ten play Sept. 19 against new East Division rival Penn State, this time in State College, Pa.
Michigan State follows on Oct. 10 in Piscataway, N.J., before the Scarlet Knights travel to Indiana.
The 2014 Big Ten schedule, released May 16, featured a conference-opening slate of Penn State, Michigan, Ohio State, Nebraska and Wisconsin for Rutgers.
The Scarlet Knights will still get those last four teams in a tough four-game stretch following the contest against the Hoosiers, before again closing with conference newcomer Maryland on Nov. 28 two weeks later.
Big Ten schools will play the other six schools in its division, plus two cross-divisional games in 2014 and 2015, while the league still has an eight-game league schedule. A nine-game schedule goes into effect in 2016, with each school then playing three teams from the other division.
Rutgers also has nonconference home games in 2015 with Norfolk State, Kansas and "a soon to be announced opponent from one of the five power conferences." The Scarlet Knights also play Army at Yankee Stadium on Nov. 21, 2015.
Here is the school's 2015 Big Ten schedule in its entirety:
