Former Rutgers safety Duron Harmon was named a winner of the 2012-13 Big East Scholar-Athlete Sport Excellence Award, the conference announced Thursday.
Harmon was one of 24 athletes from the conference across all sports to earn the honor, which recognizes academic and athletic achievement, in addition to community service.
Harmon had earned the Scarlet Knights' scholar-athlete award at the team banquet, and was a three-time All-Academic Big East selection.
Harmon had seven pass break-ups and 50 tackles this past year, earning first-team all-conference honors for the second time.
He was drafted by the Patriots in the third round this past April.
