Louisville suspends Simms four games

Louisville backup quarterback Matt Simms has been suspended for the first four games of the 2008 season for an unspecified violation of team rules, the school announced tonight.

Simms is the son of Phil Simms, the former New York Giants quarterback and Super Bowl MVP. His older brother, Chris, played for Texas and with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Simms, a redshirt freshman, was expected to serve as the backup to Louisville starting quarterback Hunter Cantwell this season. Instead, that job now falls to junior Tyler Wolfe, who has never thrown a college pass.
