The bad news wasn't limited to the scoreboard for Connecticut in its 35-13 loss to West Virginia. Huskies cornerback/wide receiver Darius Butler injured his left knee and will be out four-to-six weeks, coach Randy Edsall told media representatives today.
Edsall did not specify what the injury was but said Butler would likely avoid surgery. If the timetable holds, Butler may be able to make it back for the Dec. 6 finale against Pittsburgh, or possibly for a bowl game.
The senior is arguably the team's most important player not named Donald Brown. He is an all-conference caliber corner and one of the Huskies' best receivers on offense. He also returns punts and kickoffs, which is where he got hurt on Saturday.
