The Chicago Tribune's David Haugh is reporting that Cincinnati coach Brian Kelly met with representatives from Notre Dame last week before the Pittsburgh game, and that he could be hired as the next Fighting Irish coach by the end of the week.
The story says Kelly is unlikely to coach Cincinnati in the Allstate Sugar Bowl against Florida if he takes the job.
Kelly denied having any contact with Notre Dame last Tuesday and refused to answer any questions about the Irish after the 45-44 win over Pittsburgh on Saturday. He announced Monday via Twitter that he would meet with Notre Dame today, but that interview didn't happen. Apparently because it had already occurred.
Brace yourselves, Cincinnati fans. It's looking more and more like Kelly is leaving.
