Rutgers coach Greg Schiano continues to pick up verbal commitments at break-neck speed. Last week, defensive back Abdul Smith of Pennsburg, Pa., became the 19th high school player to verbally commit to sign with the Scarlet Knights in February 2009.

Rutgers also received a commitment from wide receiver Shawney Kersey of Woodbury, N.J. Kersey is the 10th member of the ESPN Top 150 to commit to Rutgers and seemed headed to West Virginia until changing his mind.

The jewel of Rutgers' class so far is quarterback Tom Savage of Cardinal O'Hara High School in Philadelphia. Savage chose the Scarlet Knights over Florida State, Georgia, Miami, Michigan and Tennessee, among dozens of other schools.
