Ohio State has finalized its 2011 home game against Colorado for $1.4 million.
The Buckeyes will host the Buffaloes on Sept. 24, 2011, rounding out a nonconference schedule that includes home games against both Akron (Sept. 3) and Toledo (Sept. 10) and a road trip to Miami (Sept. 17). Remember, the Big Ten won't implement its nine-game conference schedule until 2015 at the earliest, so teams can keep most if not all of their contracted games intact.
Next season marks the first time Ohio State will play two nonconference games against teams from automatic qualifying leagues since 2003, when it faces both Washington and NC State. Ohio State holds a 3-1 edge in the all-time series with Colorado, having last faced the Buffaloes in 1986 (13-10 Ohio State win in Columbus).
Ohio State athletic director Gene Smith said last week that he was working on finalizing the Colorado game but that the payout wouldn't be $2 million, as reported in a Colorado newspaper. There will be no return game in Boulder, Colo.
