Minnesota linebacker recruit Sam Maresh finally got some good news on the health front during the weekend, as a biopsy revealed that a tumor in his calf is not cancerous.
Maresh will undergo surgery in the coming days. If all goes well, he should be able to return to football approximately six weeks after the surgery.
Maresh underwent heart surgery in June to repair his aortic valve, but he made a quick recovery and had been on track to practice this spring until the tumor was discovered. He'll have to wait a little longer to return to official practice, but this is definitely the best outcome.
Given all the obstacles Maresh has faced and overcome, it's hard not to root for him. Here's hoping for a speedy recovery and a return to the field as soon as possible.
