MINNEAPOLIS -- Minnesota head coach Tim Brewster and I were walking out of his office Monday when an aide approached him holding a piece of paper with a URL address. Brewster had just become the latest FBS coach to join Twitter, a popular networking and micro-blogging service.
Brewster already has his own Web site, but after seeing coaches like USC's Pete Carroll and Michigan's Rich Rodriguez join Twitter, he knew he had to sign up. So he has, and you can find his posts here.
His first post came Monday and reads: "WELCOME TO COACH BREW'S TWITTER PAGE... I AM OFFICIALLY HI-TECH!" Another post reads, "Let me know if you want to come be a Gopher! We are looking for playmakers!"
Brewster also posted about the Gophers' first practice of spring ball, which begins today at 3:45 p.m. ET. I'll be there and will update the blog later this afternoon/evening. I'm particularly interested to see backup quarterback MarQueis Gray and the new-look offense, as well as watch linebacker Sam Maresh participate in his first practice since high school.
