Penn State reserve wideout cited for DUI

Penn State senior wide receiver James McDonald has been charged with DUI, according to court documents filed Monday.

The report doesn't indicate when the incident occurred but shows it took place at State College. McDonald had a blood-alcohol level that measured between .08-.10 at the time of his arrest. The state legal limit is .08.

McDonald has a preliminary hearing scheduled for Aug. 19 in Centre County court.

A Penn State spokesman declined to comment on McDonald's situation and said the coaching staff has yet to resume meetings after taking their vacations.

The 6-foot-2, 204-pound McDonald appeared in 10 games last fall and recorded a career-best five receptions for 72 yards. He has seven receptions for 90 yards in his career.

McDonald was suspended from the team in 2007 for undisclosed reasons. Though he has played sparingly, he could be more of a factor this fall as Penn State loses three multiyear starters at wide receiver.
