CHAMPAIGN, Ill. -- It was getting to a point that the question needed to be asked.
When did an FBS team last win a game in which its quarterback didn't complete a single pass? Ohio State led Illinois 10-0 early in the fourth quarter, and quarterback Braxton Miller had misfired on each of his three pass attempts. The Buckeyes had little need to run the ball, as their defense was playing lights out.
But history won't be made today, folks, as Miller finally completed a pass -- and a big one.
His 17-yard touchdown strike to tight end Jake Stoneburner puts Ohio State up 17-0 with 13:06 left. Great call by coordinator Jim Bollman, as Stoneburner slipped behind a drawn-in defense and caught Miller's pass.
Ohio State has converted both of its takeaways into touchdowns and seems well on its way to its first Big Ten win.
