Ohio State running back Chris "Beanie" Wells, a top candidate for the Heisman Trophy, left today's game against Youngstown State in the third quarter with an apparent right foot/ankle injury. Wells had 10 carries for 91 yards and a touchdown in the first half. He had to be helped off the field.
The junior played much of last season with a left ankle injury. He had just 46 rushing yards against the Penguins last year.
After leaving the playing field, Wells returned to the sidelines in a walking boot.
