After eight weeks of playing the blues, the Trombone Shorties held a second line on Bourbon Street to celebrate the death of their losing streak against Non-Gingervitis. Yes, it took the Shorties adding former Non-Gingervitis star Michigan QB Denard Robinson from the waiver wire to get over the hump, but we make no apologies in the cutthroat world of fantasy football.
The Shorties didn't simply beat Bennett's squad. It wasn't even close: 135-110. I received huge performances from Rex Burkhead (33 points) and Russell Wilson (24 points), while Silas Redd (19), Robinson (18) and Marvin McNutt (17) contributed as well. Despite a rough outing for Derek Dimke and the Illinois kickers, I had a big day. Bennett, meanwhile, received a huge performance from Iowa RB Marcus Coker (37 points), while Montee Ball did his thing (25 points) and the Penn State defense shut down Illinois (21 points). But he got next to nothing from his quarterbacks or his receivers, and Michigan State standout WR B.J. Cunningham had a goose egg in Week 9.
Now it's time for our Week 10 picks.
For the first time this season, Bennett is up first.
Rationale: Jenkins is off this week, so I need a wideout who can find the end zone. Abbrederis has been coming on strong for the Badgers and should rack up some points since the Badgers usually score in bunches at home.
Adam drops Penn State RB Silas Redd for Ohio State RB Dan Herron
Rationale: It's hard to part with Moment of Silas after his scintillating October performance, but alas, Penn State has an open week. Boom Herron has been brilliant since his return from suspension, and he should have a big day against an overmatched Indiana defense allowing a Big Ten-worst 234.7 rush yards per game.
Brian drops Penn State's defense for Michigan State's defense
Rationale: The Nittany Lions are off this week, so I'll simply switch to another ferocious defense, which gets the privilege of facing Minnesota at home.
Adam drops Michigan's defense for Ohio State's defense
Rationale: The Wolverines served me well last week but face a tough offense on the road at Iowa. Ohio State's defense seems to be getting stingier by the week and faces an Indiana team that has shown some life on offense lately but will be without its top two wide receivers.
Adam drops Illinois' kickers for Nebraska's kickers
Rationale: The Fighting Illini are off, and Nebraska has the league's No. 1-rated specialists, led by Brett Maher. An easy choice this week.
