B1G mobile tour cancels State College stop

The Big Ten's "Honoring Legends. Building Leaders." mobile tour will not make its scheduled stop in State College, Pa., this weekend, a league official told ESPN.com on Friday.

The tour has been making stops at each Big Ten campus this season, holding events on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. The tour has been displaying the Stagg-Paterno Big Ten championship trophy at every stop along the way.

The cancellation hardly comes as a surprise after a difficult week at Penn State. Displaying a trophy with Joe Paterno's name on it at a place where Paterno was fired this week, sparking an outpouring of emotion, isn't the best idea. Smart move by the Big Ten.

Penn State plays its final home game Saturday against Nebraska, and the tour has no plans to return to State College before the title game Dec. 3 in Indianapolis.
