St. Louis athlete Marquise Hill will play for the Gophers

Marquise Hill of Trinity Catholic (St. Louis, Mo.), who recently withdrew his Class of 2010 commitment to Missouri, has decided for Minnesota

The running back / receiver also considered Arkansas and Iowa. He holds other offers from Kansas, Kansas State, Michigan State, Nebraska, Wisconsin and UCLA.

"The thing that stood out the most was [head coach Tim Brewster]," Hill told the St. Louis Dispatch, "I know coach [Gary] Pinkel is a good coach. I know coach [Arkansas'] Bobby Petrino is a good coach. The way that coach Brew recruited me. I talked to him more than any other head coach. He was more consistent than any other coach."

Hill rushed for 820 yards and 10 touchdowns as a junior, and also had 27 receptions for 391 yards and four scores.

The Gophers now have 16 pledges.

Boilermakers gain Miami wide receiver Isaiah Williams

Receiver Isaiah Williams of Monsignor Pace (Miami, Fla.) has accepted a scholarship offer from Purdue.

Williams selected the Boilermakers over Florida International, Central Michigan, Western Michigan, Marshall and South Florida.

The 6-foot-2, 190-pound prospect caught 10 passes for 169 yards and two touchdowns as a junior for Miami Springs. Purdue now has 13 pledges for the Class of 2010.
