The Football Writers Association of America has come out with its 2011 Freshman All-America team, and two Big Ten players have made the list.
Michigan State DE Marcus Rush
Northwestern S Ibraheim Campbell
Both players moved into starting roles this season and appeared in all their teams' games. Rush recorded 58 tackles, including 12 for loss and four sacks, as well as a team-high nine quarterback hurries, a forced fumble and five pass breakups. Campbell led Northwestern with 100 tackles and had two interceptions, four pass breakups and a fumble recovery.
Any snubs? While Ohio State quarterback Braxton Miller, the Big Ten's freshman of the year, performed pretty well, his numbers don't stack up to Oregon State's Sean Mannion, the FWAA's pick. Cornerbacks Bradley Roby (Ohio State) and Michigan (Blake Countess) both deserved a look, as did Purdue kick returner Raheem Mostert.
