Michigan linebacker Kenny Demens sent a scare into his Twitter followers late Saturday night.
At 11:09 p.m. ET, Demens, the team's leading tackler with 94 stops in 2011, tweeted: "Out for the season with a hand injury. Hope all uofm still support the maize & blue." He attached a photo of a hand, presumably his own, in a large cast.
Minutes later he added: "Wish it was a joke. Y'all see the proof."
Then he waited for nearly three hours.
At 2:02 a.m. ET, Demens updated his page with this tweet: "Ok...April Fools everyone. I'm not out for the season...only in a cast for a couple of weeks!!"
Although it seemed unlikely a hand injury suffered in March would cost Demens the entire season, he probably fooled a few folks. Demens tweeted on Sunday that his setback would only cost him a day or two of practice.
Hmmm, wonder what Michigan coach Brady Hoke, who doesn't use social media and claims never to have sent an email, thinks of all of this.
In the spirit of April Fool's, I'm telling Bennett that Zooey Deschanel has decided to become a nun, and baseball is revoking the St. Louis Cardinals' World Series title.
