Bruins head coach Claude Julien told the media that Brad Marchand (undisclosed injury) will not play tonight against the Montreal Canadiens. Marchand made the trip to Montreal with the team, but will sit for at least one more game.
Marchand missed the third period of Saturday’s 1-0 victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs after he appeared to have suffered a shoulder injury when he slammed into the end boards late in the second period. He did not practice on Monday.
“We’re going to keep our fingers crossed that he’s in next game,” Julien told The Boston Globe. “He’s that close. It’s a matter of days here. It’s not as serious as most injuries, except that we’re being extra cautious early on in the season.”
Ryan Spooner, who was recalled from Providence on Monday will make his NHL debut tonight in place of Marchand in the lineup.
