The Boston Bruins announced Tuesday that they have signed defenseman Matt Bartkowski to a one-year, one-way contract extension through the 2013-14 season. They also announced the signing of University of Minnesota-Duluth defenseman Chris Casto to an entry-level contract.
Since being recalled from the Providence Bruins on March 23, Bartkowski has played two games and averaged 14:19 of ice time. The Pittsburgh, Pa. native has played 11 NHL games with no points. He has 21 assists and 24 points in 56 games for Providence this season and 12 goals and 58 assists in 156 AHL games in his career.
Casto had three goals and six assists in 36 games for the University of Minnesota Duluth this season and in two seasons with the Bulldogs, had five goals and 17 assists in 77 games.
