Krejci hits milestone with 100th goal

BOSTON -- There was at least one bright spot from the Bruins’ 5-3 loss to the New York Islanders Tuesday night at TD Garden.

The Bruins’ David Krejci scored his 100th career NHL goal. The team’s top-line center scored at 4:25 of the first period for his ninth goal of the season to reach the milestone. After the game, Boston’s assistant captain was more concerned about the loss than his accomplishment.

“It’s just a number,” Krejci said. “Obviously, it’s nice to get 100 goals and hopefully there will be 100 more in my career, but it’s just a number.”

Krejci's teammates were more than willing to congratulate him on the achievement.

“It’s a big accomplishment,” said Milan Lucic, Krejci’s longtime linemate. “It would’ve been nice to get the win with the 100th goal. He’s been playing really well as of late, and he’s been real consistent throughout this year and hopefully he can keep it up.”

With the goal, Krejci extended his point streak to five games and has six points during the stretch. Overall, he has nine goals and 26 assists for 35 points in 40 games this season.
