The Bruins will practice in the USA Rink in Lake Placid, N.Y., next Tuesday and Wednesday. Because there are two days between games, the Bruins thought it best to escape the madness of Montreal and settle into the comfy confines of the Adirondack Mountains.
Lake Placid is the site of the “Miracle on Ice” when Team USA defeated the Russians and went on to beat Finland for the Gold Medal in the 1980 Winter Olympics.
Bruins coach Claude Julien is all about team building, and every training camp he plans a weekend getaway for the players in Vermont.
“It was just a decision we made,” said Julien. “We felt we had a couple of days and it’s a good area to get some practice time. That was the decision to going there. There was no use for us staying longer than we had to. We have a job to do. We have to practice and stay focused, so we felt that was the best thing to do because of the way the schedule was put out.”
