LAKE PLACID, N.Y. -- Boston Bruins goaltender Tim Thomas remembers watching the Winter Olympics in 1980, and when Team USA won the Gold Medal, it was then the Michigan native set a goal to one day represent his country. He was 5 at the time.
He finally realized that dream in 2010 when he was a member of Team USA at the games in Vancouver.
The Bruins have set up camp in Lake Placid for the next two days in order to focus on their Eastern Conference quarterfinal series against the Montreal Canadiens. It’s about two hour south of Montreal and the Bruins arrived here after a 4-2 win in Game 3 Monday night at Bell Centre.
Thomas credits Jim Craig as the reason he wanted to be a goaltender, and he spent a few minutes Tuesday in the locker room used by Team USA in 1980:
