Julien to coach NHL All-Star game

WILMINGTON, Mass. -- Thanks to winning the Stanley Cup and his team’s continued success this season, Claude Julien will get to visit his hometown of Ottawa as coach of one of the teams at the 2012 NHL All-Star Game at Scotia Bank Place on Jan. 29.

Julien, an Orleans native, will be assisted by his coaching staff of of Doug Houda and Geoff Ward.

Rangers coach John Tortorella and two assistants to be named later will coach the other team.

Following practice Friday, Julien said he's excited about the opportunity to coach the best players in the league and be around family and friends while doing so.

“I think it’s the opportunity that you get to coach the elite players in the league and the guys that get voted on,” Julien said. “You see a different side of the players and the whole experience is a good one. The fact that it’s in my own hometown is a great; it’s an added bonus and you get your family and friends around.”
