Heading into Game 1 of the Eastern Conference quarterfinals between the Bruins and Capitals, ESPN Boston's Joe McDonald and James Murphy break down the key factors of the series:
-- Zdeno Chara vs. Alexander Ovechkin -- "Throughout their careers it seems that Chara's had the edge over Ovechkin, and I think that, combined with the season that Ovechkin had ... he wants to prove some people wrong," says Murphy.
-- Goaltending -- Don't overlook the Caps' young goaltender Braden Holtby, warns Murphy. "The unknown can sometimes be an advantage for you," he said.
-- Return of Caps playmaker Nicklas Backstrom -- "It frees up Ovechkin a bit mentally, and I just think he makes the whole team better," said Murphy.
-- Absence of Nathan Horton -- "Certainly it hurts the Bruins, but for the last 36 games of the regular season they dealt with his absence," says McDonald.
"The Bruins need to maintain their balance," said Murphy. "That's been their trademark.
"If [Milan] Lucic, [David] Krejci and [Rich] Peverley struggle a little bit, it's not the biggest deal in the world because they've got so much depth up front. But it will help if they can get it together."
