The Celtics (20-4) open a brief three-game homestand Friday night against the 76ers (6-19) at the TD Garden (7:30 p.m., CSN).
The most noteworthy aspect of the 76ers visit might be who's not with the team as Allen Iverson is not expected to make the trip for Friday's game.
* The C’s are currently 2-0 against the Sixers this season; the Celtics swept the season series 4-0 against Philadelphia in 2008-09
* Ray Allen led the Celtics with 20.7 points per game last season
* Andre Iguodala led the 76ers with 17.5 points per game against the Celtics last season
* The 2008-09 season sweep marked the first time since the 1995-96 season that the Celtics swept the season series with the 76ers
* The Celtics lead the all-time series 236-175, with the Celtics 138-48 at home
Tom Thibodeau was an assistant coach in Philadelphia from 1994-96... Eddie House and Elton Brand were teammates on the L.A. Clippers during the 2003-04 season...Primoz Brezec and Rasheed Wallace were teammates during the 2007-08 season... Elton Brand and Shelden Williams are former Duke Blue Devils... BOSTON 113, PHILADELPHIA 110 – TD Garden (Nov. 25, 2009)
The C’s were able to hold off the Sixers for a 113-110 victory at home in the Garden... Paul Pierce finished with a game-high 27 points while Kevin Garnett added 19 points... There would be 12 lead changes and 14 ties during the contest... The Celtics made a season-high 39 trips to the free throw line... All five Celtic starters reached double-figures in scoring... The Sixers were led by Andre Iguodala and his 25 points, while Jason Kapono added 20 points off the bench.
BOSTON 105, PHILADELPHIA 74 – Wachovia Center (Nov. 3, 2009)
The Celtics continued their stifling defense by allowing just 74 points and holding the Sixers to 36.3 percent from the field as they won on the road, 105-74... The Sixers started out hot leading 12-4 at one point but the Celtics made their final seven shots of the first quarter and led by two at the end of the first... Rasheed Wallace had a nice homecoming to his native Philadelphia with 20 points on the night, including 6 three pointers... Paul Pierce netted a game-high 21 points and pulled down a team-high eight boards... Shelden Williams had another strong showing off the bench with 11 points and seven boards... The Sixers were led by Andre Iguodala and his 17 points.
