Paul Pierce lands awkwardly on his right ankle. After Glen Davis intercepted a pass near midcourt, he fed Pierce going the other way for a one-handed jam with 1:34 to play. Pierce appeared to roll his right ankle a bit as he landed and hobbled up the court, calling for a timeout once the Celtics regained possession. He left the game and soon limped to the locker room.

Celtics coach Doc Rivers told reporters that Pierce sprained his ankle, but joked that the late-game injury is an old veteran's trick for getting out of practice. "I told him we play tomorrow, so he'll be OK," quipped Rivers. Boston plays the Minnesota Timberwolves in the tail end of a back-to-back Monday at the TD Garden.

Pierce scored a game-high 30 points on 10-of-15 shooting (3-of-3 beyond the arc) with seven rebounds, four assists, and only one turnover over 36:06.

The Celtics got Rajon Rondo back from a severe left ankle sprain Sunday. Boston's point guard missed seven games due to the injury, but Pierce's did not appear anywhere near as serious.
