Williams, Humphries out vs. Celtics

Poor Shelden Williams. The New Jersey Nets are expected to be without both point guard Deron Williams (ribs) and forward Kris Humphries (shoulder) for Wednesday's game against the Boston Celtics, according to multiple reports from the team's morning shootaround.

Williams got dinged up in Monday's loss to the Indiana Pacers, while Humphries suffered a sprained left shoulder the day before in Cleveland. Humphries even made the trip to Boston after undergoing an MRI on Tuesday, but neither player is healthy enough to go.

Two players with some Celtics ties are slated to draw spot starts in Shelden Williams and Marshon Brooks. Williams appeared in 54 games for Boston during the 2009-10 season (and had a lackluster Finals appearance after Kendrick Perkins got injured), while Brooks was drafted in June by Boston before being flipped to New Jersey to acquire JaJuan Johnson.

One season after the Celtics dodged numerous superstars at the TD Garden, the trend continues early in the 2011-12 campaign. The Nets have lost five in a row since a season-opening win in Washington.
