Rajon Rondo lands hard on his right wrist.BOSTON -- Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo landed awkwardly on his right hand trying to brace a fall after absorbing a hit from Raptors swingman Linas Kleiza late in the third quarter of Wednesday's game at TD Garden. Rondo departed the game soon after with what the team dubbed a sore right wrist.
Rondo was driving the baseline when Kleiza shuffled over and slammed his arms down as Rondo was in mid-air. Rondo crashed hard to the ground, landing on his right hand as he attempted to brace his back. He was attended to by trainer Ed Lacerte and team doctor Brian McKeon before rising gingerly.
Kleiza, originally assessed a flagrant-2, had the foul graded a flagrant-1 upon video review. Rondo stayed in the game to attempt his free throws, before departing for the locker room.
The team initially said Rondo might return to the game.
During the Eastern Conference semifinals against the Miami Heat last season, Rondo dislocated his left elbow, but returned to that game (and subsequently gutted out the remainder of that series).
