It's a make/miss league

BOSTON -- Celtics coach Doc Rivers wasn't joking this time around.

On the heels of a 99-94 overtime loss to the Milwaukee Bucks, Rivers reached for a familiar line, one he often uses in jest to dumb down why his team came up on the short end of the stick. This time around, however, it really might have summed up why the Celtics dropped to 13-13 on the season.

"I always jokingly -- and it’s [actually] the truth -- say it’s a make/miss league and tonight was evident of that," said Rivers. "I mean, we had point-blank looks at the rim all through the game, and one of the best shooters in the NBA in [Jason Terry] and Kevin [Garnett]. So we got these great shots, just couldn’t make them. And I thought as the game went on, you press more and more to make them and we just couldn’t. So, it was one of those games.”

Celtics shot chart vs. Bucks

The shot chart explains it all. The Celtics were 17-of-64 (26.6 percent) shooting outside the restricted area. Jason Terry missed 14 of 15 shots; Kevin Garnett missed 16 of 22.

It's a make/miss league. And the Celtics couldn't stop missing.
