BOSTON -- Boston Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo was a late scratch for Sunday's showdown with the Miami Heat due to a hyperextended right knee suffered in Friday's loss to the Atlanta Hawks.
Rondo attempted to warm up for Sunday's game, but the injury did not improve. The team elected to scratch him and he was headed to New England Baptist Hospital for a precautionary MRI. He's officially listed as day-to-day.
Courtney Lee will start in Rondo's place.
Rondo tweaked the knee against the Hawks, but still played nearly 45 minutes while producing a triple-double in the double-overtime loss.
