Pierce, KG nominated for Player of Week

Boston Celtics center Kevin Garnett and forward Paul Pierce were both nominated for the Eastern Conference Player of the Week, but were beat out by Miami's LeBron James.

With Boston coming off a three-win week, which included a fourth-quarter comeback against the Raptors, a trouncing of the rival Lakers, and a triple-overtime thriller that ended the Nuggets' nine-game winning streak, both Garnett and Pierce earned their first nominations of the season.

Rajon Rondo drew two nominations earlier in the year. No Boston player has won the award this season.

Over those last three games, Pierce is averaging 21 points, 10.7 rebounds, and 8.7 assists over 40.3 minutes per game (those numbers slightly inflated by triple-overtime vs. Denver), while Garnett is at 20.7 points, 11 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 1.7 steals over 34 minutes per contest.
