The Boston Celtics are off on Thursday after playing a back-to-back, but coach Doc Rivers stressed that his team needs a practice and is looking forward to a rare offday session on Friday.
Rivers was riffing Wednesday on the amount of fouls committed by his team during consecutive losses to the Oklahoma City Thunder and Charlotte Bobcats when he suggested much of that sloppiness could be traced to Boston's lack of practice time.
The Celtics haven't engaged in a full-team practice since March 4 -- and you'd have to go back to Feb. 18 for their last full-squad session before that, the day the team reconvened in Denver after the All-Star break.
"We really need a practice, to be honest," said Rivers. "We haven’t had a good practice in a while with the schedule that we’ve had. We need one, we need a good one."
The Celtics host the Bobcats on Saturday night and have the potential for another offday session on Sunday before hosting the East-leading Heat in a Monday showdown.
