The Boston Celtics held their annual Shamrock Gala presented by New England Baptist Hospital on Thursday night at the Intercontinental. The event raised more than $800,000 for area charities. Rondo received the NEBH Community Champion award.

The Boston Celtics raised more than $800,000 for area children’s charities Thursday night at their annual Shamrock Gala, benefitting the Boston Celtics Shamrock Foundation, at the Intercontinental Hotel. Proceeds from the event directly benefitted the focus partners of the Shamrock Foundation, including Perkins School for the Blind, Boston Children’s Hospital, Boys and Girls Clubs of Boston, Horizons for Homeless Children, The Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (MSPCC), Citi Performing Arts Center, Berklee City Music Network, and Positive Coaching Alliance. In addition to supporting the Boston Celtics Shamrock Foundation, numerous special pledges were made throughout the night from guests to help fund two (2) technology spaces for in-need youth that will be built during the 2013-2014 season.
"This gala dinner is always a wonderful event to help welcome the start of a new season,” Celtics Co-owner and Shamrock Foundation President Steve Pagliuca said. “Each year I am always impressed by the generosity of Celtics fans, and tonight we not only were able to help some incredible organizations, but we had a great evening enjoyed by our players, coaches, Legends and fans."
In attendance were Members of the 2013-2014 Boston Celtics Team and Coaching Staff, Boston Celtics head coach Brad Stevens, Boston Celtics President of Basketball Operations Danny Ainge, Boston Celtics Co-owners Wyc Grousbeck, Steve Pagliuca and Robert Epstein, Boston Celtics Team President Rich Gotham, Boston Celtics Legends Tommy Heinsohn, Dana Barros, Mal Graham, Cedric Maxwell, Tom “Satch” Sanders, JoJo White and Rick Weitzman; New England Baptist Hospital CEO Trish Hannon and Chairman of Orthopedics Dr. John Richmond. Boston Celtics Guard Rajon Rondo received the NEBH Community Champion Award presented by NEBH Dr. John Richmond.
