Olynyk nominated for Rookie of Month

Boston Celtics rookie Kelly Olynyk was one of three nominees for the Eastern Conference's Rookie of the Month award for October/November, but Philadelphia's Michael Carter-Williams took home the honor.

Carter-Williams, the 11th overall selection in the 2013 draft, ranked first among rookies in scoring (17.2 ppg), assists (7.3 apg), steals (2.92 spg) and minutes (36.2 mpg), according to the NBA. Olynyk didn't have a particularly great month (shooting just 38.9 percent overall and 18.2 percent beyond the 3-point arc), but did average 7.5 points and 5.4 rebounds over 22.6 minutes per game while ascending to Boston's starting lineup before suffering a right ankle sprain that has sidelined him the past five games.

The Celtics moved up three spots to draft Olynyk 13th in June's draft.
