Bayless departs vs. Magic

Boston Celtics guard Jerryd Bayless departed Sunday's game against the Orlando Magic with a sprained toe in his left foot.

Bayless appeared to suffer the injury midway through the third quarter and asked out of the game, immediately retreating to the locker room with team trainer Ed Lacerte.

Bayless, acquired earlier this month from the Memphis Grizzlies, had four points and two rebounds over 8 ½ minutes before his night ended. His absence leaves Boston thin in the backcourt given that starting point guard Rajon Rondo, playing his second game of the season Sunday, still is on a minute restriction.

After Bayless departed, the Celtics put Gerald Wallace at a guard spot next to backup point guard Phil Pressey.
