Whiteside suspended for hit on Olynyk

The NBA suspended Miami Heat center Hassan Whiteside on Tuesday for one game without pay.

Whiteside received a flagrant-2 foul and was ejected from Monday's game against the Boston Celtics after leveling Kelly Olynyk from behind during a Miami offensive possession.

Whiteside seemed frustrated as Boston separated a bit in the third quarter with Olynyk hitting a 3-pointer from the wing before Evan Turner drove at the basket and finished a layup that Whiteside barely contested. Whiteside and Olynyk jostled a bit before Whiteside sprinted from behind with an elbow to Olynyk's neck that sent him spilling to the floor beneath the baseline.

A bewildered Olynyk stared at Whiteside, who retreated the Miami bench after the foul. He was tagged with the flagrant-2 and automatic ejection after referees reviewed the video.

Whiteside will miss Wednesday's game against the Brooklyn Nets.
