Podcast: Painter on Purdue picks

Purdue University men's basketball coach Matt Painter phoned in Wednesday to ESPN Boston Radio with Adam Jones to discuss the Boston Celtics' selection of two of his players -- JaJuan Johnson and E'Twaun Moore -- in Thursday's NBA Draft.

"I talked to them both the night after the draft and I know it was probably whirlwind for both of them -- they both had their own little parties in different cities and, as a coaching staff, we watched the draft at my house," said Painter. "Both are excited about being part of a great organization with great leaders obviously in Doc Rivers and Danny Ainge. I expressed to [Johnson and Moore], 'You don't know how lucky you are, but now you gotta get something done... to help Boston win a championship.'"

Painter stressed the high-character nature of both players and how they were the winningest players in Purdue history. He highlighted their offensive games while talking about what they can bring immediately to Boston.

"Both of them are shot makers," said Painter. "Both of them make shots. When JJ is open, when E'Twaun Moore is open, they both make shots. They have different parts of their game, but at the offensive end, they can do those things. And then their makeup. They were great, great leaders... They grew every year and their maturity, it was something special."
