Boston College special-teams coach Mike Dawson will resign his position effective Jan. 1, the school announced Wednesday.
“Mike Dawson has been a valuable member of our staff for the past three seasons,” BC coach Frank Spaziani said in a statement. “We wish him nothing but the best as he heads down a new career path. I’m certain he will be a success wherever his career path leads him.”
No replacement has been named.
While BC struggled to a 4-8 record in 2011, Dawson oversaw a unit that included punter Ryan Quigley, who set BC and ACC records for career punt attempts during the year. At the team’s annual awards banquet, Quigley received BC’s highest honor -- taking home the Thomas F. Scanlan Award.
