Junior forward Maxie Esho, one of the most important bench players for the University of Massachusetts, will miss Wednesday night's game against La Salle while he is dealing with concussion-like symptoms.
Esho suffered a head injury when hit with an elbow in Saturday's loss to St. Joseph's. He has been undergoing concussion recovery protocol and coach Derek Kellogg is hopeful Esho will be available for Sunday's game at Rhode Island.
Esho has been a key to UMass' success, often providing a jolt of energy as the first man off the bench. His absence likely will mean more minutes for freshman Seth Berger. Kellogg also could rely more on a three-guard alignment.
