Boston University went one-and-done in the Hockey East tournament for the first time in 22 years after dropping a 3-2 decision at Notre Dame on Saturday.
The single elimination game between the No. 8 (Notre Dame) and No. 9 (BU) seeds was the Terriers' first Hockey East playoff game without Jack Parker behind the bench.
Notre Dame (21-12-2) extended its unbeaten streak to seven (6-0-1), while BU's first year under coach David Quinn ends with a 10-21-4 record.
The Irish took a 2-0 lead at 9:25 of the second period on a goal by Jeff Costello. BU's Evan Rodrigues made it 2-1 at 16:04, but Notre Dame regained the two-goal edge 3:07 into the third on a Peter Schneider strike.
Robbie Baillargeon got the Terriers within a goal at 14:22, but BU couldn't come up with the equalizer.
Next up for Notre Dame in the quarterfinals is Boston College, which lost to the Irish, 2-1 in overtime, in the teams' regular-season finale.
