Addazio latest Eagle to face ice bath

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. -- If you’re on any form of social media -- be it Twitter, Facebook or, as one noted (non)user would put it, MyFace, YourFace, InstantFace -- you’ve probably seen the “Ice Bucket Challenge” by now.

Well on Thursday, Eagles head coach Steve Addazio got in on it after practice and before meeting with the assembled reporters for media day:

After he got soaked by new QB Tyler Murphy, Addazio challenged ESPN’s Steve Levy and all the media in attendance. Levy wasted no time responding:

Addazio also addressed the purpose of the challenge -- to raise awareness of, and funds for, the fight against ALS, which former BC baseball player Pete Frates is currently battling and last year took the life of longtime BC PR staffer Dick Kelley. In his opening remarks, Addazio said: “On a serious note, really want to do our part to help this ALS fight. It’s a terrible disease, as obviously you all know, and it’s just really important that our players and everyone in the program and the university are behind doing whatever we can do to do our part in trying to help find a cure for ALS. So any attention that we can bring to it, any fundraising that we can do we’re certainly behind it.”
