We updated our statewide MIAA Top 25 poll this afternoon, and for once we have minimal movement.
Weymouth dropped 11 spots to No. 17 after suffering an upset at the hands of Needham, which comes in at No. 21 this week -- its first appearance in our polls since we launched the high school section in the summer of 2010. Outside of that, there are few surprises this week, with no changes in the top five despite No. 3 BC High dropping a 35-19 decision last weekend to New Jersey power St. Peter's Prep.
Swampscott, coming off a convincing win over Lynn English, also debuts this week at No. 25.
We're also rolling out our first prep school football poll of the season, with Belmont Hill coming in at No. 1 for the first time in the poll's history. As always, the usual rules apply -- Massachusetts schools falling under NEPSAC jurisdiction, with no post-graduates.
