We've updated our statewide MIAA Top 25 Boys Basketball Poll this afternoon, and for once there is some consistency.
St. John's Prep plummets 12 spots to No. 16 following a surprised upset at the hands of Malden Catholic, arguably the biggest shocker to date this season. But outside of that, and St. Peter-Marian's free-fall out of the rankings altogether, many teams stand pat this week.
Springfield Central jumps into the top five with Prep's loss, while Central Catholic, Catholic Memorial and Newton North retain the top three spots respectively. BC High rounds out the top five at No. 4.
At the bottom of the poll, Springfield Cathedral makes its return following the Panthers' win over previously-ranked Springfield Commerce. St. John's of Shrewsbury is back in the poll this week for the first time since the preseason; the Pioneers stumbled out of the gates at 3-4, but have since won seven of eight and are arguably the hottest team in Central Mass. right now.
