Final MIAA baseball poll of regular season

We updated our statewide MIAA Top 25 baseball poll for the final time in the regular season this afternoon, on the eve of tomorrow's seedings for the MIAA tournament.

The poll will updated once more following the conclusion of the 2012 season, in mid-June.

St. John's of Shrewsbury holds the No. 1 spot for the third consecutive week, after finishing strong with a win over New Bedford. Walpole dropped six spots to No. 8 following its loss to Norwood, making way for Springfield Cathedral to climb to No. 2 -- its highest position ever. Franklin moves into the No. 3 spot for the first time since the final poll of 2011, while Lincoln-Sudbury (4) and Lowell (5) round out the top five.

Minnechaug makes its return to the poll at No. 14, after winning the Valley League outright. Peabody (19), Plymouth North (20) and Acton-Boxborough (24) make returns to the poll.

Making their debuts this week are Dennis-Yarmouth (15) and Cohasset (25).
