Abington makes debut in Top 25 poll

We updated our statewide MIAA Top 25 poll for Week 7 of the high school football season. To see the poll, CLICK HERE.

A few notes and observations about this week's poll:

Green Wave make a splash -- finally: Abington is the lone team making its debut this week, at No. 25, following the Green Wave's 40-21 win over Carver to improve to 6-0 on the season and 3-0 in the competitive South Shore League. Some will say the debut is long overdue. The Green Wave came into the season one of several favorites in the SSL and have done nothing to dispel that, averaging nearly 30 points a game and getting production from a deep senior class that includes Babila Fonkem, Pat Dwyer and Brandon Cawley.

Top 5 at a standstill: For the first time there is no movement in the Top 5, but the back end of the Top 10 makes a little shuffle. Walpole (6) and Nashoba (7) trade spots, as do Springfield Central (8) and Brockton (9), while Natick slides into the No. 10 spot following its 42-23 win over previous No. 10 Weymouth.

Movers and shakers: Making the biggest jumps up this week are Springfield Putnam (15), Andover (16) and Stoughton (19), who each move four spots from last week. Making the biggest drop this week is St. John's of Shrewsbury, which drops five spots to No. 20 following a 49-8 beatdown at the hands of No. 3 St. John's Prep.
