Editor's note: BC High's Obum Obukwelu checks in with his third player diary installment. The No. 10 Eagles face a stiff challenge from No. 1 Everett this week.
Honestly, this is possibly one of the most important games so far in our season. Top-ranked Everett versus 10th ranked BC High, it doesn’t get much better than that. Not only that, but its also the first home game of our season. After five straight away games, traveling as far as the Cape, Springfield, and most recently Jersey City, it feels good to play in front of our home crowd for once.
This week’s practice has been very serious, with the main focus being how we plan on containing Everett’s main playmakers. Especially with the type of passing game which they have shown, it will be key for us to put a lot of pressure on Jonathan DiBiaso and lock down his main targets. But after last week’s 49-0 win against Hudson Catholic, we are very confident coming into this game.
Since last year’s 14-13 loss to the Crimson Tide, I’ve been waiting for the chance to face them again. In fact, this might actually be my last chance … But that can all change depending on who wins the Catholic Conference.
This game should be great, that’s really all I can say. Expect a tremendous effort from both sides, and truly the better team will win.
