Boston Cathedral sophomore guard Jade Moore scored her 1,000th point last night, with 14 points in the Panthers' 58-29 loss to Pope John XXIII.
The 5-foot-6 Roslindale resident is one of the Bay State's leading scorers; headed into last night's game, she ranked second in Massachusetts in scoring average (26.1 points per game), behind Barnstable sophomore Molly Bent (28.0).
Moore has been playing varsity for the Div. 4 Panthers since seventh grade. Since the beginning of her freshman season, she has scored 653 points.
"Jade is the best basketball player I have coached at the high school level," Cathedral head coach Duane Sigsbury said. "Her basketball IQ is second to none. She is a high honor roll student and the sky is the limit for her and her future.
"She is an awesome, awesome person. I'm lucky to be able to coach such a complete person."
