Auburn High offensive guard Aaron Dyke has committed to Southern Connecticut State, his head coach Jeff Cormier told ESPNBoston.com this afternoon.
The 6-foot-4, 290-pound Dyke was among the state's most punishing run blockers, earning a spot on ESPN Boston's annual All-State Team as the Rockets won their fifth straight Central Mass. Super Bowl title. Auburn went over 3,000 mark in rushing (3,155 yards, 10.1 yards per carry, 53 TD) and accumulated 66 total scores and nearly 4,000 yards of offense. They also outscored the opposition 468-84, with four shutouts, to go 13-0 and captured the Division 3 Super Bowl title.
Cormier also said that senior lineman Jordan Giampa will be suiting up for Amherst College in the fall.
"We're really happy for him," Cormier said of Dyke. "[Offensive coordinator] Tom Godek, who was his recruiter, did a great job recruiting him. He was very comfortable down there, and he's very excited to get down there and play for Southern Connecticut. Our program is very proud to produce a scholarship athlete to a program like that. Same thing with Jordan Giampa, he's heading to the No. 1 liberal arts college in the country."
