Braintree High senior catcher Gino LaRossa has verbally committed to UMass, he announced tonight on Twitter.
Officially committed to UMASS Amherst, thank you to all the people who have helped me over the years

The 6-foot-1, 190-pound LaRossa was an honorable mention Bay State Conference All-Star this year for the Wamps, who captured their fourth straight Carey Division title before bowing out to eventual state champion Bridgewater-Raynham in the MIAA Division 1 South quarterfinals. On the season, LaRossa batted .295 with 19 RBI and a home run in the nine-inning, wood bat-only Bay State Conference.
Behind the plate, LaRossa demonstrates above-average arm strength. According to Wamps head coach Bill O'Connell, LaRossa has recorded a pop time as low as the 1.8 second range.
